I did receive an advance copy of this book for review. I absolutely LOVED it. This one is even better than Finding Mr. Write, which I read when it first came out. The funny thing is, I didn't even notice the subtle connection between the two until close to the end of the story, when it finally dawned on me. It might just be because it's been awhile since I read that one and names weren't setting off bells.
Gemma is so real. It was absolutely easy to identify with her, to read the story from her point of view, with her fears and feelings right there. And I really like that Mason isn't some highland laird from the novels where everything is bodice ripping and characters don't have to have personalities...because he does have personality, and lots of it.
I don't read a lot of romance novels these days, mostly because of the descriptive in my last sentence. I love the fact that Kelley didn't sell out to write a different genre. She still has real characters with real feelings and personalities, who have to work through problems and challenges in life situations. Maybe some of the situations are larger than life, but the positions the characters are in demand that as well.
This is a great book and I was disappointed when it was over, because I wanted to read more. Definitely looking forward to the next!
I've linked the Amazon order page to the publication date, Jun 24 2025, and her website and publisher are listed below. If you haven't read any Kelley Armstrong books, there are lots of different genres to try, and every book of hers I have read has been good, even genres where I don't normally spend a lot of time.
