Freshwater

Located in the wilds of Wyoming, the name Freshwater was chosen as a Western analogy to Christ. Just as He is the Living Water, and we must have Him to have eternal life, any desert dweller knows the importance of fresh water to life, both for self, and the nourishment of crops or livestock. By taking nourishment in God and His word, we strengthen our own relationship with Him, our faith, and the quality and abundance of our fruitfulness.

Our keystone verse is from Jeremiah, Chapter 17, Verse 8: "For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see whenSave heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit."

The fruit that we speak of is mentioned in Galatians 5:22
"22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."

And the heat could be anything we experience that might test our faith in God; trials and tribulations, relationships, anything that focuses our love and attention anywhere but on Him...

Halloween Prep 2022!

Paul and I struggled with ideas this year. And time! We finally decided on Ragnar and Laegertha (Vikings).

I am linking in some of the inspirations, images, tutorials, etc.

For my costume, I wanted to dress as a Shield Maiden, in full warrior regalia. The best photos I found were Season 2 and Season 3 promotional photos posted on FanPop.

I don't have leather pants, nor the budget for leather pants 😆,
so I went with a blue tunic top and brown leggings.

It took me days to find a top I liked, in a color I liked, because there were so many choices, and none seemed quite right! I ended up choosing one that is kind of a cross. It's longer, like an apron dress, but I'll still wear it like the tunic over leggings.

I also did a lot of searches and checking out YouTube for tutorials. There are a few from the History Channel which are pretty interesting, about costuming, wardrobe, and just the history of Vikings.

My favorite achievable tutorial was this one, by SweetHearts Hair on YouTube.

Oh, and since my hair is shorter now, and mostly grey, I bought a wig and some styling tools as well!
The makeup I'm just going to try on my own, but I did get some black eyeliner.

I'll wear my brown boots, and I got these cool wrist gauntlets too. Paul is planning to build swords and shields, but we did find a giant knife which I will use as my sword if we run out of time.

I found this neat vest at the thrift store, and it will be my leather armor! And, since we live in Wyoming, I have a leather/fur coat in case I need it...also a great find at the thrift store!

Paul's journey to Ragnar was pretty similar. We found a dark brown henley to wear under his armor, and we have some chain ail that was given to us by a friend, so he will wear that. I found a brown pair of pants that he likes and will wear before and after the event, so big bonus!

He will also wear his own boots and the really cool gauntlets!
