The Importance of a Good Shoe

Some of the most frequently posted questions I see from other teachers, especially newer teachers, are all about shoes. Which shoes are most comfortable? Which shoes can you wear all day? Where can I find cute shoes that won't hurt my feet?

The debates can get crazy! One of the biggest things I've found is that everyone's feet are different, and your perfect shoe may not fit someone else and vice versa. I recommend getting the ideas, and then trying on the shoes!

Do NOT scrimp. Buy on sale, yes. Stock up on sale if you find shoes you love, save for the shoes that are right, but don't buy cheap quality shoes. Your feet are an investment in the rest of your health and being able to function all day long.

I generally tend to go toward the more supportive shoes. I do own one pair of flats (okay, now I have three, but one is Dansko and one is Keen). I love them and they will go the whole day, but I always have a backup pair of tennis shoes in my classroom cupboard.

Some of my favorite and most comfortable shoes so far have been Dansko, Keen, Timberland (they have a clog that's similar to Dansko), Spring Step (my one pair of flats), Saucony, and Salomon. I just bought my first pair of Klogs, so we'll how I like those, but they are so cute! I also have ASICS, Eddie Bauer sandals, Croft and Barrow Sandals and Tevas.  I did jump on the Hey Dudes bandwagon, and I bought two pairs. One of them I really like, and the other I gave away because they just weren't comfortable. They don't hold up for the price you pay. I also have some boots, and the ones I like the best so far are from Baretrap.

My new Dansko flats I haven't had a chance to actually wear to school yet, but I have high expectations.

Eddie Bauer close toed sandals; Tevas; Croft and Barrow sandals (which are definitely showing their wear at this point)

The Hey Dudes I do like!

These Rocket Dogs are pretty comfortable. They don't always feel great by the end of the day, but they are nice and very fun.

Spring Step

Saucony

This is my brand new pair, just breaking them in!

These are my Salomons. I bought one pair, my husband just bought some a couple of months ago and loves them, so he talked me into some. Then a week later we found a pair on sale locally, so I snagged those as well! I really like these and am excited about them.

I have multiple pairs of ASICS as well.

These are my new, adorable Klogs, and I am excited about trying them out this year!

These are also brand new, and I have no idea if they are going to be a great quality shoe or not, but they were comfortable at try on, and so cute I had to try!

Okay, these are really adorable and they get a lot compliments and attention, but I usually can wear them about one class period and I am changing to backup wear.
