Steamboat Deli

A local place in Casper, Steamboat Deli is on Center Street, between Second Street and Midwest Avenue. I've driven and walked by it any number of times, but this was the first time I'd managed to hit the right hours. They are open from 8 am - 4 pm. 

Great customer service, and the food is delicious!

This beauty is the BLT Chicken Salad on a croissant, which was the daily special.

 

Fourth of July Cookies

I wanted something easy and quick that wouldn't melt in the 95 degree heat! They were a hit! :)

 

Key Lime Pound Cake - with a substitution

Check out this fabulously fun Key Lime Pound Cake  recipe from Southern Living.

I doubled the recipe so I could make a pound cake, and try it out as a cupcake as well.

A lot of my cupcakes did fall, and I think I may have overloaded my bundt pan.

 The glaze is super easy to make and soaked right into the cake, giving it a little extra zing.

I did make one little switch. I live in Wyoming, so fresh key lime juice is a challenge, and I had some Mojito flavored syrup, so I tried that instead. 

These were delicious, and my family and friends could not stop eating them!

This took first place at the fair, and the Judges Choice ribbon!

Cookie Jar 2021 and Fair 2021 Results

I originally had a little different plan for my Fair Cookie Jar Entry for 2021, but when my folks found and sent a bunch of my great grandma's recipes, I changed it up a little. I've shared quite a few recipes from Dot, and some of those ended up in this cookie jar, along with our family's No Bake Recipe, and some Lemon Madeilines.

Can you see the teapot and the teacup?

I'll have to take a picture of the ribbon, but the jar got second place at the county fair!
