Freshwater

Located in the wilds of Wyoming, the name Freshwater was chosen as a Western analogy to Christ. Just as He is the Living Water, and we must have Him to have eternal life, any desert dweller knows the importance of fresh water to life, both for self, and the nourishment of crops or livestock. By taking nourishment in God and His word, we strengthen our own relationship with Him, our faith, and the quality and abundance of our fruitfulness.

Our keystone verse is from Jeremiah, Chapter 17, Verse 8: "For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see whenSave heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit."

The fruit that we speak of is mentioned in Galatians 5:22
"22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."

And the heat could be anything we experience that might test our faith in God; trials and tribulations, relationships, anything that focuses our love and attention anywhere but on Him...

Sherrie's Place - Good Eats!

This local little diner has been here for years, and I am kind of ashamed to admit this only my second visit. But I've been telling my family about it for awhile, and we finally happened to be in town for breakfast on a weekday, so we dropped by Sherrie's Diner.

Seat yourself in this cozy, unpretentious little hole-in-the-wall and prepare yourself for huge portions of amazing food. Did I mention the food is AMAZING? On Thursday only, you can find homemade doughnuts! And I don't mean plain old baked cake doughnuts. These are the real thing, glaze and all. We picked up two maple with bacon and a maple with pecans to take home to the kids. There were also chocolate with Oreo, chocolate with coconut, and several other flavors I can't remember.

I can't remember the name of my breakfast, but it was a skillet with jalapenos and homemade..yes, HOMEMADE green chili over eggs and actual, CRISPY hashbrowns. I also had a beautiful, soft, and tasty pancake the size of a dinner plate. I did take home a box.

My husband had an omelette smothered in green chili and a pancake as well.

The coffee was really good, and the refills kept coming. Friendly service, they invited us right up to choose our doughnuts, and it was just such a family style welcoming place. They do have sugarfree syrup, and there are vegetarian options.

I'm just sorry I forgot to take pictures of the doughnuts!

Excellent Coffee with Copious Refills!

Hashbrowns that are actually crispy!

I had the Veg Skillet smothered in Green Chili. It comes on top of a big stack of hashbrowns and with your choice of eggs. Both breakfasts came with choice of toast, English Muffin, or a pancake the size of a dinner plate.

I was in town with the girls the very next Thursday, and we wandered over to Sherrie's Place. There was a bit of a wait as every table and booth was full, and there were people standing in the doorway, but I knew it was worth the wait (and by the time you go somewhere else to wait the wait would have been over).

When one of the wonderful staff brought my coffee, she set down the mug and said "I found this one for you." I felt so special I took a picture and posted it to Facebook :).

The food was excellent, and we took home doughnuts for later (and for Paul, who wasn't with us on this trip).

I had an omelette, Hannah had biscuits and gravy (her go to breakfast choice), and Laramie had a veggie omelette. More pancakes bigger than your head, and yummy hashbrowns!

And of course, the DOUGHNUTS!

2 plain maple, one maple with nuts, one chocolate with oreo

I almost forgot to mention, the girls got shakes.
Hannah's was chocolate and Laramie's was Oreo...and once again, bigger than your head!

This is the first book I have read in this series, but the 8th book in the series. I wasn't lost at all and had no problem following the characters or the plot. I will go back and read more now that I've found them!

Aunt Maxi leaps at the chance for big theatrical debut in the charming play about a posh ‘60’s fur salon and the owner trying to run an honest business while his charming, yet caddish partner, Mr. Browning, is just trying to give a fur coat to his new mistress.

When the woman playing the mistress turns up dead the play comes to a complete halt until Sheriff Spencer Shepard lets Loretta reopen after the crime scene is fully swept.

In the meantime rumors are swirling like the snowflakes in Honey Springs and Roxy finds that she just can't stop from hearing the gossip and trying to figure out who killed the amateur actress..after all the show must go on!

Racca's Pizzeria

Racca's Pizzeria has a very friendly staff, willing to answer questions and give recommendations. They do have vegetarian and vegan items on the menu. It's a fun and attractive atmosphere.

We were seated right away, and our server was very friendly. He answered lots of questions from us about the names and descriptions of items on the menu, and recommended several items.

Paul and Laramie both had different kinds of wood fired pizza. Laramie's was from the "Secret Vegan Menu", but with regular cheese instead of dairy free, thus vegetarian. I believe she had the Arrosto Veg Pizza, which was excellent. This pizza has their Classic Roasted Vegetable Mix, San Marzano Tomato Sauce, EVOO, and Fresh Basil. Paul had the Cacio e Pepe, which has Porchetta, Bechamel Sauce, Fresh Mozzarella, Caciocavallo, Pecorino Romano, and Butcher Black Pepper. It was also delicious.

We ordered the Rotolo as an appetizer and it was wonderful. Actually, it was fantastic.

I didn't love the Baked Eggs Alla Norma, but it was good to try them. I think I might have enjoyed them more, but I was full, and they aren't great leftover.

I chose the Eggplant Rollatini, which was absolutely phenomenal. I loved it so much and was trying to not even share bites with my family! This is definitely something I would order again. Cheesy, lovely, beautiful, wonderful food!

And it is served with very yummy Focaccia Bread!

Wyoming Rib and Chop House Casper, WY

Don't laugh, I really wish I would have taken pictures of the bathroom. It's elegant and gorgeous and would make Nicole Curtis proud.

The food was delicious. Our server was really friendly. She had great tips on what to order, and her recommendations were spot on. Really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.

This place is packed and I recommend a reservation, at least if you're going on the weekend.

We had the Fried Green Tomatoes and Boudin Balls, both recommended by our waitress, both excellent. I especially loved the Boudin Balls with their Mustard.

I also had the Pesto and Chicken Pasta, which was delicious, and my husband had the Baseball Cut Top Sirloin with Truffle Butter which was tender and flavorful, cooked just right.

Definitely an occasional treat, as the prices are on the higher side, but it was good to go in and try the menu.
Price range: $12 - $50
Description: Welcome to the Rib & Chop House—home of premium steaks, fresh seafood and award-winning baby back ribs, all served in a casual atmosphere.
